The Los Medanos College women’s volleyball team headed into their final game of the season against Contra Costa College looking to go into the playoffs with a winning streak. Luckily for them, they demolished the Comets three sets to none completing the sweep with scores of 25-4, 25-15 and 25-9.

It was a one-sided match from the beginning that didn’t see any change of momentum.

The Comets stood no chance as LMC would score whenever they wanted. The first set saw a 7-0 LMC lead before the Comets got their first point.

During that first set, LMC never hit the brake as they completely ran away with the set victory.

However, the second set saw some closer battles. During the second set, the Comets made it a fight as they would attempt to get back in the game with tough and gritty points. They couldn’t prevail as LMC would capitalize on the Comets’ mistakes and win another set looking for the three-set sweep.

The third set was similar to the first set as LMC would dominate and not allow the Comets to make it close.

The Comets, throughout the match, would never have a lead with the closest being at the start of the sets at no score.

LMC had the advantage from the beginning of the match and never looked back. The Comets never had any momentum even though they had a lot of passion during the match.

Throughout, LMC had confidence, chemistry and didn’t make any mistakes allowing the Comets to make a comeback. While the Comets made a few mistakes that would ruin their chances of winning the match.

The audience made themselves known until the third set when LMC had a huge lead and the match seemed over. They would cheer after every spike and make their presence known.

The Mustangs end the season second in the Bay Valley Conference behind Solano College with a record of 10-2 in conference play. Their overall record is 19-12. The two losses within their conference both came against Solano College.

The Stangs now look on to the NorCal playoffs with the first game occurring on Saturday, Nov. 18.
