DEAR EDITOR:
To me, Prop 33 seems beneficial to the general population.
The argument made by the League of Women Voters claiming that this prop will inevitably raise the cost of building new homes, isn’t supported by any evidence or reasoning and I personally don’t see how this could lead to higher building costs.
It is hard for me to understand any counterargument to making houses more affordable or making all the homes in an area cost around the same by way of local legislation.
With local voters being able to decide on whether and how to control rents, it would make the whole area as expensive as the people could handle, deal with skyrocketing rent prices and further enable renters in their communites to be able to keep their homes.
Eventually, I would like to have my own space, but and currently I don’t think it is a realistic possibility without a partner or roommate, Prop 33 could change that not just for me but for all.
