Turning to community college to complete some courses before transferring, is to save money. But to save money or make money to pay for school, we the students turn to jobs or financial aid. Which can only cover so much with just community college alone. To transfer into a University can become a big financial step! Students can fear not having enough money to go to their dream university, which leads some to having a side hustle. According to a 2024 survey by Save the Student, 30% of students have created side hustles to help cover expenses. I think we should encourage students to help build their business and to promote it. It can teach students how to network, build financial independence and develop skills!
How can we make this happen? We can make a day out of it! At least once a month, we can help the students promote their side hustle with doing a student market! It can be either on Tuesdays or Thursday, since that is when there are more students on campus. If some students can’t set up a booth, we can simply just put up a bulletin board for their business cards or flyers. The campus can become a space to encourage entrepreneurship. Many students already work hard to balance school, jobs and their own small business. Giving them a place to promote their work would show that the college supports student success — both inside or outside the classroom!
