I want to begin by stating that I’ve had no problems with my time at LMC so far, academically. Everything I need is provided. So instead, I would like to express my disappointment with LMC’s lack of a proper athletics program for a men’s soccer team.

I know that LMC has a women’s soccer team, which is objectively better than not having one, so why isn’t there a men’s team? Being near the Pittsburg area, I’m sure there are many who would like to play at a more collegiate level. Of course, I do acknowledge the fact that LMC or any community college for that matter, is not an ideal environment to play collegiate sports, but it would nevertheless make for a great stepping stone for budding athletes that are currently lacking the grades necessary or finances to play in a more formal program. LMC can easily set up a pipeline of players with Pittsburg High School, which regularly fields a great men’s soccer team, owing to the proximity between the two, a mutually beneficial relationship for both school and students is ripe for the taking, yet nothing has come to fruition.

I sincerely hope that LMC will be able to provide a path for talented young men just as they already do for young women.
