The pressure of this season shows in every scene, even when little is happening.
One of the show’s biggest strengths is its mood. It isn’t loud or over the top like many other superhero series. Rather, it leans into characters, who they are and how they move through their world, giving the story weight beyond action. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), also known as Daredevil, feels more layered this season. The events of season one weigh on him heavily, as if every scar and every decision has finally caught up.
While the tone and setting didn’t change much, one thing definitely did, Daredevil’s signature suit. The new design shifts away from his iconic dark red and instead a full black suit.
Many fans believe the suit represents a shift back to Matt’s roots of operating in the shadows and embracing a more maddened and intense version of Daredevil.
Overall, it’s a strong start to the season, building tension and setting up what’s to come without trying to do too much too quickly.

The premiere of “Daredevil: Born Again” season 2 gives me hope that the rest of the series is going to be amazing. One of my biggest gripes with last season’s first couple of episodes was the heavy use of CGI and uninspired fights.
But, there has been a complete turnaround. The fights feel gritty, the plot is moving in a more enticing direction and the characters remain the heart of the show. Charlie Cox, as Matt Murdock, is the definitive live action Daredevil.
Cox really embodies what it means to be a hero. “Born Again’s” season 2 premiere was a near perfect reintroduction to the Marvel world. The only nitpick that I have is that there were too many things that happened between the two seasons. Many shows shake up the status quo between breaks, but I was just left feeling like I missed an episode.
I hope future episodes circle back, but regardless this was a fantastic first episode. For viewers who weren’t convinced to return to the series after the finale “Straight to Hell” I can confidently say “Daredevil: Born Again” has improved its greatness.
