As we already know, President Donald Trump’s cabinet often feels sloppy and drama-filled, like a reality TV show. Two of his cabinet members have already faced controversy. Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired following criticism tied to the Epstein files, and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was also removed after multiple controversies. Now, FBI Director Kash Patel is under fire.
On April 17, “The Atlantic” published a story alleging Patel has a serious drinking problem, citing instances such as him being seen drinking with the U.S. Olympic hockey team after a victory.
Patel has stated that The Atlantic’s published story was defamatory and a “malicious hit piece.”
I beg to differ. Patel is seen in DC at bars, and Las Vegas on the weekends. Some sources have said that meetings and briefing have to be rescheduled because he is too hungover to function. His own security team has said that Patel is seemingly unreachable after his drunken nights out. The evidence is as clear as day, and Patel wants to call it fake news? His ignorance is sending me.
To top it off, now Patel will be suing the New York Times reporter Elisabeth Williamson for, “delivering a baseless story which caused a direct threat of life to my girlfriend. We’re going to protect not only me and my loved ones, but every American that is threatened.” I guess Patel doesn’t understand the 1st Amendment at all.
Reporting on public figures is not against the law. Kash Patel suing not one but three online publications for standard reporting, with concrete evidence and honest content about him and his girlfriend is inappropriate and unconstitutional. It goes against our 1st Amendment which is the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition. As journalists, it is of utmost importance that we protect our rights at all cost.
With the ongoing uproar against Patel, Democrats are calling for him to take an alcohol abuse test. I think Patel should be removed from office and put into a private rehab since there is so much evidence stacked against him. How can you be the head of the FBI and be unreachable? How can you take people to court for writing about you and what you do in your personal life? How can you be so stupid and not know that you’re a public figure who has no rights to privacy when you walk out of your own home? Patel needs to look in the mirror and be honest with himself and the people who he has in his corner.
