Over the last few weeks, the war involving Iran, Israel and the United States has become a hot topic on social media platforms such as Truth Social, X and Instagram. On April 7, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to speak about the war in Iran. Trump said, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again… now that we have Complete and Total Regime change, maybe something extraordinarily wonderful will happen, WHO KNOWS?…God Bless the Great People of Iran!”
Soon after, Congress held a meeting regarding his statement about the possible genocide of an entire population of people. Members of the public have called for a written declaration to be drafted by Trump’s cabinet, passed to Congress to indicate that he is now incapacitated and will not be able to serve out his presidential term. Congress sees that it’s evidently clear what the next step is: invoke the 25th amendment and impeach Trump before he does anything else catastrophic and unpredictable.
The 25th amendment states that if the president dies, resigns or is removed, the vice president becomes president. Enacted in 1967, it addresses legal uncertainties in which the president is unable to perform the duties of the office. Trump is beyond incapacitated, he is drunk with power, and the way the country has been run is a complete mess.
In the wake of the Iran war, many members of Congress, mostly Democrats, have been calling for, pleading with, and advocating for the impeachment of Trump since his second term began. Now, even some Republicans are starting to see what many Democratic men and women have been saying all along. His actions are unconstitutional, and he is not fit to be the President of the United States.
Why has it taken so long you ask? Because many of the Republicans in Congress wanted to wait out and have good faith in a man who fell short on his promise to, “Make America Great Again.”
All Trump has done is make America worse. High gas prices, cuts in government assistance, and climbing prices in medical premiums, should’ve woken up every citizen, whether they are Republican, Democratic, or Independent.
A call for the complete and total death of an entire population, because their beliefs, social norms, and way of life that culturally look different from western civilization is off putting. Aren’t we in America, a democratic republic? Which means that we believe and advocate for all people, no matter if they are different from what we see as normal and societally acceptable.
This isn’t a call for, “make peace, not war!,” this is a call to take a man who has destroyed our democracy out of a place of power, who never should’ve been given the position anyway. Congress, we beg of you, invoke the 25th, and remove this man from office!
