Once a year, the President of the United States appears before Congress to deliver the State of the Union address. The speech traditionally talks about the accomplishments, goals and updates on the country’s economic and political state. This year, Donald Trump turned it into a bragging, lying, circus fest, rather than a unified national address.
Instead of talking policy and solutions, much of the speech was stomping on the toes of Democrats and soaking in his 70th standing ovation from Republicans. As soon as Trump walked into the building, he was hit with both applause and protest. Texas Rep. Al Green raised a sign that stated, “BLACK PEOPLE AREN’T APES!” referring to a now deleted Truth Social post made by the President depicting the Obamas as apes. Trump ignored the Rep and approached the podium. He then spoke for 1 hour and 48 minutes, breaking his own previous record of 1 hour and 40 minutes. While it may be one of the longest addresses in modern history, it was also one of the most ridiculous. Americans have already seen Pam Bondi embarrass herself in front of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee days prior so the bar is low. The nearly two hour speech was full of economic bragging, claims that gas and grocery prices are declining, and abundant talk of public support.
At one point, Trump said, “We’re winning so much that we really don’t know what to do about it.” However, recent polling shows his disapproval rate is up by 60%, so it’s not looking too good for Donald. They also gave out awards to certain Americans, some deserving and some not, with hockey player Connor Hellebuyck receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom…for what, I am not sure. You could see throughout the speech, the President was getting more and more agitated the more Dems refused to stand up and applaud. He scolded them, saying, “These people are crazy,” also blaming them for the increase of prices in the economy. He even called Democrats cheaters, saying, “Their policy is so bad that the only way they can get elected is to cheat.” This is a good time to mention that there is no evidence of election rigging, although the President believes the 2020 election was rigged they have yet to reveal any factual evidence of anything.
The speech was a total mess and only showed other countries that we are falling apart. The country is divided, and if Republicans can’t get a backbone and stop allowing this Epstein twin to continue embarrassing the country, the United States will become a complete and utter joke for years to come.
