Former Hip-hop and now irrelevant star Nicki Minaj has buddied up with President Trump. The fact that Nicki Minaj has befriended Trump in the midst of the ICE deportations and intentional murders surprises me.
ICE is targeting not only Hispanic or Latino people, but black people who are of African descent. Minaj says that she befriended Trump because she believes he is being bullied, and according to the interview Minaj had with ‘Katie Miller Podcast’ feels like, “that had been done to me for so many years.”
In terms of bullying and the threat of deportation, Minaj seems unbothered. Minaj was born in Trinidad and Tobago, and was recently given a Trump gold-star visa, which is an offer to unlimited residency and a path to US citizenship. However, this still means that she can be deported. In Trump and his administration’s eyes, she is still an immigrant.
Minaj was a big critic of Donald Trump during his first term, in particular his 2018 family-separation policy, saying Trump was, “childish.” But now, while ICE separating families ramps up, Minaj is silent.
In December 2025 when she criticized Gavin Newsom for supporting trans children at a Turning Point USA event, the LGBTQIA+ community felt betrayed and embarrassed by Minaj who spent most of her career supporting and uplifting them. Why the change of heart? Her main focus is on why she claims to be Trump’s number one fan, freeing her brother and husband.
Trump has been known in the past to hand out pardons to people that he likes or favors. Minaj’s brother and husband have both faced convictions in the past. Perhaps, Minaj cozying up to Donald Trump will nudge him to pardon them.
Nevertheless, Minaj says that no matter what her opps say about her new found friendship with Trump, their words “don’t affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more.”
But one thing is clear, she ain’t invited to no cookouts anymore. Minaj’s black card is revoked.
