Presidential candidate Kamala Harris has ignited a new sense of passion within the Democratic Party. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and was made apparent by the delegates who spoke and attended the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Aug. 19-22. Whether they were watching from home, or delegates attending live, countless Americans were moved by Harris’ refreshing positive attitude, which makes her shine against the ever-critical, volatile nominee Donald Trump.
On the other side of the coin, Republican Nominee Donald Trump is dropping the ball. Trump still has a shocking amount of support on his side, however he’s losing Republican voters due to his tactless and graceless speeches, his lack of respect for anything but his wallet, and his repeated lack of ability to keep a promise. Even conservative voters are dumping Trump.
“I realized Trump wasn’t for me, he was for lining his own pockets,”two-time Trump voter and staunch conservative Kyle Sweetser said of the Republican Nominee in his speech at the DNC. “Now I’m not left-wing, period, but I believe our leaders should bring out the best in us, not the worst. That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris.”
Prior to and following the Democratic Convention, Donald Trump announced multiple rallies, and continued to make comments on his Twitter arguing against Harris’s words during the convention ”IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?” became a meme after he tweeted in reaction to Harris. Trump spent the time inciting drama on Twitter, rather than taking that time to prepare for his own upcoming speeches. He also continued to paint himself in a worse light at each rally because he failed to restrain himself from making baseless attacks against anybody even slightly critical of him — not to mention his penchant for rambling about crowd sizes.
Even those active in the Republican Party are finding peace in Harris’s style. Kamala Harris touches the audience with her speeches, instilling hope in the American people. Republicans are switching their support to Harris partly due to her lengthy history as a public defender, district attorney and politician, making her well-equipped to lead the nation, as well as for the inspiration she brings to the Democratic Party.
“He has no empathy, no morals, and no fidelity to the truth,” Stephanie Grisham, former Trump White House press secretary said of the 45th president during the DNC. “Unlike [Trump] I never wanted to stand at that podium and lie. Now here I am, behind a podium, advocating for a Democrat,” Grisham shared with the audience her decision to vote for Harris.
“I love my country, more than my party; Kamala Harris tells the truth, she respects the American people, and she has my vote.”
So, if you are tired of the separatism and fear-mongering being pushed in our current political climate, rejoice in Harris’s profound positivity and respect for our nation, and vote blue Nov. 5.
