“African American women also adopted acrylic nails as they emerged in the 1950s. Donyale Luna was the first black woman on the cover of Vogue in 1966, who wore acrylic nails. Singers Donna Summer, Diana Ross and Millie Jackson wore them as well in the 1970s.” Showcasing the prominent black women who made acrylic nails popular.
