A new action and drama Bollywood movie was released on Sept. 7 titled “Jawan” which had the Indian megastar Shah Rukh Khan as the main character. It was an intense thriller that displayed someone forcing his government to do the right thing in the only way he believed would work.
The movie started off strong with incredible action scenes and beginning how the movie will be depicted as a revenge-filled drama film. It showed what it had to take for the government to wake up and help its citizens instead of killing them.
The movie displayed three hostage situations where Azad, portrayed by SRK, was forcefully having the government help its citizens and prove that the only way things change for the better in a country is having the intent to do right. He also wanted to get the citizens to question incoming government officials before voting for them. It was a heartfelt story that kept the audience enthralled in what would happen next.
Shah Rukh Khan’s acting in the movie was incredible as he was the star of the film. Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt also made cameos in the movie that helped heighten the plot and the film. Vijay Sethupathi as Kaalie Gaikwad was also a standout actor as he looked dangerous from the moment he first appeared in the film.
The comedy aspects in the movie were well-timed and had the audience audibly laugh and made the film less serious than it was. There wasn’t too much comedy to overwhelm the plot, fortunately.
The visual effects for the movie were just as good as the film itself. The blood and gore within the film displayed how gruesome some of the kills were.
In almost every Bollywood movie, there are musical numbers used to continue the plot. This movie showed three musical numbers with another one after the movie ended with the credits rolling. The songs were catchy, made audiences dance, and kept the pace of the plot how it should be. None of the songs felt out of place nor did they ruin the movie. It had the opposite effect and uplifted the movie.
In its first three days of release, the movie “Jawan” has officially grossed over Rs. 380 crore, or $45,714,304 million dollars worldwide. Domestically, in India, it grossed Rs. 202.73 crore, or $24,388,581.18 million dollars, and it became the first hindi film to cross the Rs. 200 crore, or $24,060,160 million, mark in the first three days of release.
Overall, the movie was amazing as the acting, plot, special effects, and musical numbers all helped the movie receive an eight-and-a-half out of ten-star review. I would recommend this movie to anyone, but especially to those who are fans of Bollywood movies. The movie lasts two hours and 49 minutes with a 10 minute intermission in the middle of the movie.
If you decide to watch the movie with your family, caution is advised as it does contain a few graphic scenes such as blood, violence and suicide.
You can watch this movie in specific theaters that are available in three languages: Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, all with English subtitles.
