Simplify academic journey

DEAR EDITOR:
Los Medanos College should take into high consideration the importance of providing students with clear, streamlined pathways.

When a student plans out what major they want to partake in and lead on with the rest of their lives, a preset and clear roadmap should be set in place for them. Instead of students having to go through an endless list of courses trying to understand which ones fit in with the IGETC or CSU requirements, the college could provide pre-established sets of courses that are not only applicable to their major of selection but also fulfill general education criteria.

To further enhance the experience and quality of education for the students, a professor ranking system could be set in place. By prioritizing those instructors who have been recognized for their excellence in teaching, students are set up for success from the beginning.

By implementing a roadmap preset for academic pathways and a professor ranking system for class selections, Los Medanos College can significantly simplify the academic journey, ensuring that students not only pursue their chosen major with clarity but also benefit from the expertise of top-tier educators and ease of reality when having to choose classes and try to fit them with a numerous amount of requirements, regarding universities too.
