The ever-evolving Roblox game Dress to Impress continues to draw in players with their newest updates, especially with the update on March 1st that drew 149,080 players to the game. The latest update is Style Showdown, a fun, competitive 10-player minigame where players have a limited selection.
With limited choices of the bigger catalog and a shorter amount of time to complete a theme compared to the original version of the game, it can become stressful.
I have been playing this game since the update came out, ironically stumbling across it.
I will have to say that the game is really fun and perfect for those who have a competitive nature. Although, there is a lot to know about the gameplay and the actual game itself.
Based on the lore of the original game, Lana is featured as a character who announces themes, voting, and eliminations.
I find this part of the game to be an interesting take on a character that many original players of Dress to Impress continue to enjoy. Dress to Impress has turned from a just classic dress-up game on Roblox, once similar to a game called “Fashion Famous” into a dress-up game with an ominous backstory.
One aspect of the game I thought was positive was the countless options for hair, makeup, and even skin colors. Although, with the original game play it was always 5 minutes and now it’s been adjusted to 3 which can make things complicated or even stressful.
It can also be very difficult when the limited catalog continues to change each round so if another theme comes, the item that you thought you could use may not be there.
From plot twists to interactive elements, the newest update allows Roblox players to officially see older elements of the game in a new light. A neat feature is the rating system that allows players to choose two outfits they want to see move onward.
As each round progresses, each round changes. From limited time to limited items, to not being able to delete items from avatar, the game can become very amusing and is a great way to think on one’s feet.
However, an ongoing issue with Dress to Impress even before the update, is the players that are not on theme getting voted or some begging for votes. A lot of the time they end up joining and winning the game when they do this, and with stakes high for a new limited edition set as the prize for winning 10 rounds, it can be frustrating.
Other than that, the game runs very smoothly and has a very fun interactive story element. The only true complaint I have is the themes being niche. It’s hard to know what some are and unfortunately, there isn’t enough time to look it up.
One of the examples is stuff like VSCO girls which is a trend that was back when I was in high school. That reference is about 6 years old and not a lot of the younger crowd understands what it is.
So if Dress to Impress did more themes like Mermaid, Dancing Queen, or even Retro, it might seem to appeal to more people and be still tricky but not abnormally hard like the game makes it.
Overall, the newest update is really fun and much more engaging with friends but allows the same fun experience of playing solo.
