Dine and donate

Charles Reed, Staff Writer

The Pittsburg Historical Museum and the New Mecca Cafe are working together to raise money for the museum. The New Mecca Cafe is hosting a Dine and Donate event, serving Mexican food for the public. If you present a “Dine and Donate” flyer to the cafe on Tuesday Feb. 18, a portion of your total will be donated to the Pittsburg Historical Museum.

To pick up a flyer, please stop by the museum any Saturday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., or on any Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“[It is] one of the best historical museums that I’ve ever seen,” said Dorothy Kearney, President of the museum.

The Dine and Donate event takes place at The New Mecca Cafe located on 324 Railroad Avenue, Pittsburg, Ca. 94565. If you wish to make a reservation for this event, please call (925)-432-7433. The Cafe hours are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“[The museum] is a great way to spend all day or at least a few hours,” said Kearney.

The Pittsburg Historical Museum offers a detailed walk into the history of the city of Pittsburg. The museum displays a collection of artifacts, historical photos, a well organized library of papers, maps and reference books throughout. There is a Sports Hall of Fame Room, Family Room, Military Room, Bridal Room, Theater Room, and gift shop in the museum as well.

Located at 515 Railroad Avenue this museum is admission free, as it is run by volunteers. The Pittsburg Historical Museum accepts donations and welcomes all individuals to stop by for a visit.

The New Mecca Cafe invites you to stop by and enjoy a variety of homemade Mexican food including: steak, chops, chicken, sandwiches, and salads. This is for a fundraiser, so the restaurant will not be accepting any coupons or other discounts with this flyer.

If you have any questions about this event, please contact Dorothy Kearney at the Pittsburg Historical Museum on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at (925) 439-7501.
