The Los Medanos College Student Services Center is scheduled to have construction completed by early 2015. This section of the College Complex will provide students a space where they can access all of the college’s student services. According to LMC Vice President Kevin Horan, “The facility will not be accessible to students until we have completed moving into the building. We are currently developing a transition plan from the temporary swing space to the new building.” “The L-612 Student Services remodel project is contracted to be completed on December 22, 2014. The project is on schedule to meet this date.” Horan continued. During the construction phase, many of the student service centers were displaced all over campus. Some of those offices are placed in portable buildings on the northwest side of the campus near the LMC lake while others are located inside the College Complex building. Director of Admissions and Records Robin Armour said, “I am thrilled for the new construction on campus. I can’t wait to be in a permanent space. It will be good for students along with staff members because everything will be in one area. Right now everything is scattered around. I am hoping to be moved into the new building by December because January is a very busy month for us.” Other construction changes will include closing the walkway that runs from Lot B into the west side of the Math Building. Renovation of the new service center has been underway since Fall 2012. The construction projects were fully funded by the 2006 Bond Measure A+ and approved by voters of Contra Costa County. The bond measure also supported completed projects including renovation of the athletic field, the new nursing and emergency medical training classrooms and labs.
