The Los Medanos College woman’s soccer team finds itself at a crossroads with a 0-4-1 record through one third of the season.

The team is right about where they were last season when they started 1-3-1 and that squad finished 4-11-4.

The first three games of the season were not kind to the Mustangs.

Their first three games were played they against opponents that went a collective 26-9-4 last season. All three teams showed last season was no fluke they all bullied the Stangs handing them 0-3 record to start the year.

During that span Los Medanos was outscored 32-0.

The team had a difficult time scoring and stopping opposing teams from scoring early in the season, but over the last two games, the team has come out sharper and it shows in the box score.

Over the past two games, the Mustangs have improved on both sides of the ball and shown signs of life as sthey held their next two opposing teams to a combined three points.

While the improved play hasn’t resulted in any wins yet, head coach Zach Sullivan believes this, “is a positive step for the season going forward.”

Sullivan also praised his team for not mentally throwing in the towel after the rough start they got off to. “This group has been amazing by staying positive through the first few games regardless of the result,” said Sullivan.

The team’s last game was a hard fought one-point road loss to Napa. After the game Sullivan praised his teams toughness.

“We have to be happy with the result, but also to push to improve. This group is relentless and they just get closer together as a group and it shows on the field,” said Sullivan.
