DEAR EDITOR:
Being students at Los Medanos College means we’re no strangers to the challenge of finding a spot to study effectively.
Despite the library being a choice for studying, due to its atmosphere, it tends to get crowded fast—leaving us scrambling to discover other suitable locations to concentrate on our academic tasks.
As midterms and finals approach rapidly the demand for designated study spots on campus is becoming increasingly pressing.
Many students depend on the library for studying purposes; however the limited seating and noise levels can pose challenges to their concentration. The student lounge and cafeteria are study spots, however, they tend to be quite noisy which hinders serious academic focus.
Moreover, outdoor seating areas may not always be viable due to weather conditions or distractions.
Enhancing study spaces by incorporating quiet areas in classrooms or increasing seating, in less utilized spaces could significantly aid students in managing their academic tasks.
LMC must ensure an atmosphere of achievement as the student population expands; the availability of resources aiding learning should also increase accordingly.
I strongly encourage the college administration to address this matter and make efforts to establish study areas that are easily accessible for students.
