DEAR EDITOR:
As a Los Medanos College student, I’d like to bring attention to an essential issue regarding the LMC Marketplace’s limited gluten-free selections.
For students like me who have gluten intolerance, finding safe and healthy snacks or groceries can be quite difficult.
With limited options, many of us are frequently left with only a few items to choose from, forcing us to bring snacks from home or settle for options that could fail to meet our dietary requirements.
Offering more gluten-free products in the Marketplace will not only aid people with medical issues, but also cater to the growing number of students who choose gluten-free diets for health and wellness reasons.
Expanding the selection of gluten-free snacks, cereals and everyday items would benefit many students.
For example, including a selection of gluten-free snacks, such as protein bars, chips, and baked goods, would provide quick and convenient options for individuals on the run.
Furthermore, having gluten-free basics such as pasta, bread, and baking mixes on hand would allow students to choose healthier choices and enjoy their meals without worry of negative responses.
Creating a more inclusive Marketplace aligns with LMC’s goal to support the well-being of all students.
I encourage the Marketplace to take these suggestions seriously and work towards enhancing its offerings.
By actively considering the nutritional needs of its students, the college may create a more inviting and supportive atmosphere. It demonstrates LMC’s dedication to health and inclusion, as well as its importance for all students, regardless of dietary needs.
Together, we can create a more welcoming environment for everyone.
