Covid-19 not only changed the way that Los Medanos College offers classes to students, but the way students choose to enroll in school. During the pandemic, lots of students suffered from online school but many thrived doing school at home. There are also people, like me, who enroll in hybrid schooling — partially in-person and online.
As horrible as the pandemic was, one of the better things that came out of it was the fact that schools began offering online classes. It is great that there are more options for students who may need flexibility with classwork, whether that’s because of their work schedule, they are family caregivers, they have everyday life problems to deal with, or they simply just like having more freedom. It also gives people who work better in different environments the chance to thrive.
For example, I tend to do better working on my own online, however I do need to be in an in-person learning environment to understand some material and ask for help directly there. Luckily, I am given that option when picking my classes to choose what is best for me and how to fit it around my work schedule.
