Student Brianna Cortez has a polka nail set. “To me, nails are a way to express who you are and what you like. It’s a fun way to show your uniqueness,” said Cortez. “Personally, the fun part about getting my nails done is picking out the next design to get. It gives me something to look forward to. Every 2 weeks, getting my nails done gives me confidence and makes me feel put together.” As for the price range, “Usually, I spend around 25-35 dollars on the type of nails I get. It also depends on the complexity of the design that determines the cost.” added Cortez.

Hailey Jackson

Student Hailey Jackson has a dark red nail set with gingham. She voices the amount of time she puts into getting her nails done. “Nails have always been something that I enjoy putting time into! I almost always have my nails done because I feel like it personally helps me feel more put together and it’s a form of self-care for me,” said Jackson. When asked about deciding what designs she wants, she feels it’s the most exciting part. “For me, I think what makes it most fun is being able to come up with a unique design, I absolutely love talking about my nails to other people when I receive compliments on them and whatnot, it’s a huge compliment booster,” The price range on what she pays for nails depends “Pricing definitely ranges based on length, designs and charms but on average i’d say i spend around $80 including tip, I also get my nails done every 2-3 weeks,” added Jackson.

Lisette Paz

Student Lisette Paz has a simple red nail set with a shine to her nails. She says having her nails done makes her feel put together. “I would say getting my nails done is a form of self-care and makes me feel put together,” said Paz. When asked about what makes getting her nails done fun, “The seasons of the holidays is what I look for in inspiration for my nails because through my nails I can express myself and it feels like my accessory to my outfit,” As for price range, “I would say I spent maybe $40 because I can buy two sets of press-ons and it will last me the whole month,” added Paz.

Vanessa Amaya

Student Vanessa Amaya has a fun nail design with cheetah print, cherries and bow gems on some of her nails, she claims that doing her nails just brings lightness to her world. “It always feels really cute when I do it. As for the colors, I pick based on the vibrancy.” Amaya said. “I typically like to get a lot of red nails and I feel that it’s my color since my hair is red. Especially during the winter, I like to get vibrant colors and even if it’s gloomy.” Amaya speaks on the amount she generally spends on this creative expression. “As for how much I spend on my nails, because I’ve known my nail tech for a long time, she gives me a discount, but I typically pay $70, anywhere from $60 to $80.”

Yelena Rasco

Student Yelena Rasco is a nail technician and speaks of her experience in doing nails. “I got tired of paying for press-on nails every so often. I had a good friend who I looked up to, who was motivated to learn how to do nails myself.” Adding how it's a creative outlet. “Making nail sets for me is a new form and medium for my creativity. To me, it means that I can still have the drive to be an artist and not be burnt out and being able to express myself through them happens to be a plus,” said Rasco. As for how much she spends on supplies, it can vary. “Generally, supply prices depend, since I go for more affordable options when I can, especially to make selling my nail sets more affordable for customers. On average, when I need to restock containers, polishes, or other items, I probably spend at most $35 collectively. I don't often need to restock in bulk, so it's hard to make a total," said Rasco.
