As many students know, trying to access some of the vending machines on campus has become a struggle the past few semesters. From machines eating up money to not being able to accept cards or cash, it is frustrating trying to navigate a way to try to get a quick snack on campus. It becomes an inconvenience to students who want to grab a snack or trying to get something to drink.
It is the school’s responsibility to ensure that the machines on campus work and deliver the items to students they have paid for or are trying to pay for.
This is important since the Student Union closes at 5 p.m. With no access to the cafeteria or bookstore, many students turn to the vending machines for something to eat or drink. So why should students who are on campus late not be able to access the only sources of food and beverages that are available?
Or why should there be vending machines at all, if the maintenance to keep them working is not going to be done? It is frustrating that the college has continued to ignore or not bother to check this problem that has been ongoing for nearly four semesters.
LMC should be doing more to ensure that their students are able to access the vending machines they have on campus.
Students shouldn’t have to deal with machines eating up their cash, or watching the same error pop up on the machine every time they attempt to make a purchase. It’s a waste of time for students, but if the college is not going to put into the work to ensure the vending machines work it is also a waste to have them there providing false hope.
