Are you housing insecure?
The world has seen a loss of jobs and equitable housing opportunities since the pandemic, which in some areas, is still ongoing. As a result, Contra Costa County has seen a 35% leap in homelessness according to the San Francisco Chronicle, the biggest jump in homelessness in the Bay Area. The Los Medanos Experience wants to hear about how you adapting to these changes.
A small reporting team for the Experience is working on a project with the California Humanities Emerging Journalist Program on housing insecurity in Pittsburg, Antioch, Brentwood, and Oakley. If you are willing to be interviewed for the story, please contact Aliyah Ramirez at [email protected].
What do you think of schedule builder?
Registration for summer and fall classes is quickly approaching and the Experience staff needs your help. If you have had any experiences with the new schedule builder that you would like to share, please contact Ray Kopf at [email protected].
Queer folk, care to share?
Are you an LGBTQIA+ student (or a friend of one) with an experience you’d like to share, one where you may have been singled out or harassed for your orientation or identity? What representation would you want to see more of? We’re looking for students who’d be willing to share their experiences both at LMC and in the surrounding communities and ideas for improvement. Please contact Tatihn Mellieon at [email protected].

Good evening,
I was looking throughout your website to see if it is possible to invite the LMC Experience to stop by tomorrow on Thursday, April 6th anytime between 10am-1pm in our Student Union Building, 1st Floor Room 108/109 as our LMC Workforce & Economic Development Office hosts our annual Industrial Technologies In-Person Job Fair and we would love to invite you to take pictures and include this event in your next newspaper. This is an invitation only event, as this is not open to the public as it invites students and graduates from Automotive Technology, Construction Pre-apprenticeship, Drone Technology, Electrical & Instrumentation Technology, Process Technology, and Welding Technology.
If you are available and would like to join us to include this in your next paper, feel free to stop by as I am coordinating the event and would love to have you!
Thank you kindly,
Melina
