Los Medanos College was ranked in the top two percent of all community and junior colleges nationally. Officially ranked 16th overall out of 1,026 colleges by Intelligent.com, an online magazine focused on higher education, the school is thrilled to have been placed so high on such a prestigious list.
Using data-centric methodology to create their ranking system, Intelligent.com works to provide readers with the most accurate list of elite community colleges nationwide. There are four main criteria each school is assessed on: student resources, graduation rates, cost, and return on investment. Using these guidelines, each school is evaluated on a scale from 0 to 100, with LMC receiving a final score of 92.5.
LMC’s work in providing its student body with ample resources throughout its Pittsburg, Brentwood, and online campuses was a key factor in the rating. LMC seeks to serve its community, propelling the student body to a lifetime of accomplishments beyond their time at the institution.
“We’re thrilled whenever we’re recognized for the strong outcomes and success our students achieve,” President Ralston said when asked about the school’s latest ranking. “Being recognized validates the efforts of our faculty and staff and assures students that they’ve made a great choice in attending LMC.”
LMC being listed alongside other elite schools left Ralston pleased, as she sees the culmination of all of the hard work of both faculty and students being recognized at a high level, highlighting the school’s exceptional academic programs and learning communities.
“We work to be our best every year, and we’re happy to have that acknowledged,” Ralston says. “By committing to increasing equitable outcomes through excellent teaching and learning opportunities and by providing meaningful student support for students. We strive to engage and build relationships that support students.”
