Los Medanos College has planned many events to celebrate the 50th anniversary. One of the highlights will be the Homecoming Dance on Oct. 4, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Homecoming Dance’s theme is inspired by the popular Netflix show “Bridgerton,” and the event will feature formal attire and decorations suitable for the Regency era.
For Student Life Associate, Kat Pangilinan, the homecoming is a part two from 2021.
“I just wanted to dress fancy and be with friends. When Covid happened I didn’t get the chance to have Prom especially as I was waiting for Senior Prom,” said Pangilinan.
Her plan is to have a fun competition between the clubs and organizations of LMC to decorate table centerpieces.
Clubs will provide a collage or portrait “that will transform the place into a Bridgerton vibe,” said Pangilinan.
The idea of the Homecoming Dance, which will include a DJ and free photo booth, was brought up after the Homecoming Football game was scheduled.
“We have been planning this since the beginning of the school year,” said Pangilinan. “We got some bops lined up and asked students for recommendations.”
There will also be food with a tea party theme that fits with the dance.
Pangilinan said she believes it is a great way for new students to be introduced to the campus.
“This is a dance for students to get together,” said Pangilinan — provided they are 18 and older. It is specifically designed for adults.
