TAG to assist in UC future
Workshops upcoming
Students who desire to secure their goal of transferring to a University of California (UC) college next year have less than two weeks to register for the Transfer Agreement Guarantee (TAG). The TAG, which is a formal agreement guaranteeing a student’s enrollment into a participating college, is one of many services offered by the Transfer Center located in Room CC2-225.
Unlike the AS-T and AA-T degrees offered by Los Medanos College, which provide a guarantee to transfer from LMC to a CSU, the TAG program only works with participating UCs. This can be valuable to the student who still has a long way to go and wishes to pursue a higher degree from a UC.
As the Sept. 30 deadline for TAG registration approaches, students who are graduating from LMC next year and are interested in the guarantee are encouraged to look into the various qualifications needed by the UC of their choice to ensure they meet the requirements necessary for transfer.
“A minimum of 30 units are required before registration,” said Transfer Counselor David Reyes. The other 30 units needed in order to complete graduation requirements must be completed “by next year at time of graduation,” Reyes added.
Reyes recommends that students interested in the TAG program view the different requirements that each UC has in addition to the requirements for LMC. This information is available online at http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/tag-matrix.pdf.
Students who are eligible and have met the requirements set by both LMC and the UC of their choice will also need to submit a UC application to the university of their choice by no later than the Nov. 30 deadline.
To assist students with their decisions to move on to a UC using the TAG, the Transfer Center is holding two more workshops. The workshops will take place in room CC2-229 at 10 a.m. on both Sept. 24 and 25, and will feature counselor Reyes as a guest speaker.
