Kimora Mitchell’s sense of fashion is trendy. She likes very earthy styles. “I differ between styles, I personally like punk style, or earthy styles or even early 2000s. I love a good jean-on-jean look,” said Mitchell, expanding on the styles that are her personal favorites.

As for where Mitchell likes to shop for her clothes, she mentions that if she goes out to the mall, she shops at American One, a store that has a variety of clothes for women, or Earthbound.

Her long flowy jean skirt is from Ross, as are her black loafers. Her black knitted sweater is thrifted, and her gray messenger bag is from one of the vendors here at LMC. Her spiral earrings add a personal touch to her outfit, just as the two clips in her hair.

Jordan Mijares

Style: Comfortable

Jordan Mijares’s style is comfortable. Through his outfits, he highlights sustainably and quality through the early 2000s style.

“I like the early 200s because of the color scheme, the hairstyles, the overaccessorizing of necklaces, and most definitely the baggy clothing,” said Mijares.

For fashion inspiration, he admires American rapper and singer JT. “[She] is my fashion inspiration because I love how she’s so different. She wears different pieces that are all intricate and have a flowy feeling, and she dresses completely different from any other rapper that I’ve ever known,” said Mijares.

His go-to for shopping is the flea market. “ I like shopping at the flea market because it is reusing clothing, and it’s not contributing to fast fashion. It is super sustainable to shop there. As a college student, it’s hard to buy stuff, and at the flea market, they have good prices,” said Mijares.

His red t-shirt that makes a statement is from Zumiez, his pants with red stitching are from the flea market, and his sneakers are Air Jordan 4 Retro Fears. His outfit is in tune with his style as it gives off early 2000s and the classic Bay Area look.
Jen Ramirez

Style: Colorful

Jen Ramirez’s style is feminine. Her fashion style, as described by her, is very cute, casual, and girlish. She looks towards singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo for fashion inspiration.

“She came out with her debut album when I was 16, and I remember I was drawn to her colorful and funky style,” said Ramirez.

“I like shopping on Depop because I recently learned how bad fast fashion is not only for the environment but for the people in the sweatshops who make the clothes,” described Ramirez.

“Depop is the most accessible secondhand source for me with good clothing options,” said Ramirez, mentioning that she can continue to get good quality clothes at a lower price.

Her outfit details consist of her blue GAP jeans from Depop, her light-blue lace top with flowers from her mother’s closet, and the white basic tee underneath from H&M. Her earrings were gifted to her, and her shoes are black Adidas Sambas.
Axel Teofisto

Style: Laid Back

Axel Teofisto’s style is laid back. When asked who he looks to for fashion inspiration, he states that A$AP Rocky is the person to follow.

“A$AP Rocky because he doesn't really try to fit in with the other rappers. He tries to do his own style, and he is really unique in the way that he layers and puts together an outfit,” said Teofisto.

As for where he likes to shop, “I thrift all the time, and sometimes online on secondhand websites. However, I try to avoid anything expensive,” said Teofisto, emphasizing how clothes can be really expensive nowadays.

His outfit consists of a dark green hoodie that is from thrift, his pants are from Pacsun, and the shoes are the Jordan 1 Retro High OG Taxi’s.
Brandon DeLuca

Style: Natural

Brandon DeLuca’s style is natural. He looks towards singer-songwriter A$AP Rocky for inspiration for his outfits.

“I like A$AP Rocky, just the overall way that he positions himself in the fashion scene, he mostly wears baggy clothes,” said DeLuca.

When asked where he usually likes to shop, Deluca said, “I usually thrift most of my clothes.”

His outfit details, top to bottom, are all cohesive and make sense.

His black t-shirt is from Target. The jeans are from Rocawear, and his shoes are Doc Martens. The stitching on the jeans makes for a sleek but natural look, and the brown detailing on the pants matches his brown dusty shoes.
Yanel Carballo

Style: Retro

Yanel Carballo’s style is retro, 70s/80s inspired. She looks to that era for fashion inspiration because she loves the colors, the patterns, and the flowiness of it all. Yanel Carballo, a psychology major, says she loves to thrift.

“I mostly like thrifting, and it’s what I’ve been doing more,” said Carballo.

Additionally, there is a variety of styles to find when you’re out thrifting. Her outfit details consist of a white basic shirt from the thrift, layered with a flowy blouse from Marshall’s. Her jeans are also from Marshall’s, and her shoes are brown Uggs. Yanel does a great job of capturing the essence of the fashion looks from the 70s/80s with a headband tied around her head that drapes down into her hair.
