The Los Medanos College Experience debuts a new ongoing podcast this week, “Last Two Braincells.” It is produced and hosted by Journalism students Jordan Suisala and Ricky Montejo and also features Susiala’s younger sister Malilitimari Suisala.
The podcast was created to capture many thoughts and opinions on pop-culture news and how it affects society from the perspective of three Gen Z voices. Posted on Oct. 1, the podcast debuted on the LMC Experience website.
The trio decided to start the podcast to share more fun content with their personalities and opinions with the audience in an engaging way.
“We wanted to create a more relatable outlet for LMC Experience,” Montejo said.
The idea for the name, “Last Two Braincells” came from pop-culture references, and they hope it captures the casual nature of the podcast.
“We wanted the Experience to have a multi-media outlet that was light-hearted and added some relatable fun,” Jordan Suisala said.
Originally the podcast was designed for Jordan Suisala and Montejo to offer Gen Z views, but Malilitimari Suisala was added after declaring the two were “too old” to talk about the topics.
“They needed a 16-year-old point of view. They’re in their 20’s and don’t know what people my age are talking about anymore,” Malilitimari Suisala said.
The podcast is expected to continue throughout the fall semester and beyond.
“Hopefully we’ll grow an audience large enough for someone to take over when we graduate,” said Montejo.
The podcast will be available bi-weekly on lmcexperience.com and on YouTube and is aimed at students who want a casual listen about all things pop culture.
