Pelican afloat
A rare sighting of a pelican occurred at the Los Medanos College lake during the first week of classes Tuesday, Aug. 16. Its presence caused quite the stir as many people began taking pictures of the bird as it swam.

This is a magnificent pelican and is deserving of a name. So from this day forward let it be known that this is Pete the Pelican. We should all keep an eye out for Pete in the future and make sure he feels welcome on our campus.
